Saint Pio Pietercina is the patron saint of Italy, adolescents and volunteers.
Saint Pio Pietercina, better known as Padre Pio, was an Italian Fraciscan friar who became venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church after a lifetime of exhibiting miraculous and preternatural phenomena, much of which was originally denied by the Church. Pio had the gift of reading souls, the ability to bilocate, and exhibited the stigmata on many occasions. At first, when the Vatican tried to relocate Pio to a less public convent, the local people threatened to riot, such was their faith in Pio.
